96% of People Fail When Trying to Better Themselves -Here’s My Secret to Better — Nina Zapala
Why do 96% of people fail when trying to better themselves? This statistic comes from a Business Insider article authored by Srinivas Rao, who hosts The Unmistakable Creative podcast. The article’s premise is to take action and use a catalyst to motivate a better self.
I took action, thought myself into a stupor, and leaned into the spiritual practices I learned while attending seminars with Depak Chopra and Wayne Dyer, who I adore. At the time, I was working as a freelancer at the Edgar Cayce Foundation, which exposed me to many spiritual gurus on my path to betterment. Yet nothing was sticking.
I, too, was in the 96 percentile, frustrated, confused, and wondered why everyone else is getting this and I’m not.

Winging It. Why Actions Beats Planning Every Time
Here’s Why Many of Us Just Don’t Get It
Here’s an example of why many of us just don’t get it. Let’s look at Emma Isaacs; she’s a very successful businesswoman. YEAH! She declares on the cover of her book, “why action beats planning every time.” OK, this works for her and the over 500,000 businesswomen she helps annually, which is incredible.
What if your personality type is of a judging nature. You wake up in the morning with a schedule to follow, and if it becomes unraveled, all hell breaks loose. Your day just got dramatically worse.
Let’s take this a step further. So what if you are a female business owner and take one of Emma Isaacs’s classes? Does her attitude of getting things done without a plan make you crazy or make you happy? Would you be one of the 96% of people that fail or rally?
I Say it Depends on Your Personality Type.
Here’s the thing, the right answer is what’s right for you? If you are a judgy type, a planer, organizer, and scheduler, guess what, you need those things in your life. These are aspects of your personality that lead you to your true SELF. On the other hand, if you are perceiving in nature, flexible, spontaneous, and have a let’s just jump-in kinda vibe, Isaacs’s classes may be the ticket!
You won’t know this until you understand your personality type from the inside out. Furthermore, you won’t take the plunge on the propaganda parade, as discernment and alignment result from a healthy, well-balanced personality.
We must begin to realize, our truths are without weakness they hold the keys to joy, freedom, abundance, peace, and purpose.
The Mistake Many of Us Make on the Road to the True SELF
How many of you have attended a masterclass, have a coach, or have taken online classes without much success? I’ve taken a variety of courses because I felt incomplete. Searching for something, but what? Here’s the thing, we are complete. Let me repeat that. We are complete.
The mistake many of us make and the reason we feel like something is missing or we aren’t good enough is that we’ve been conditioned to feel this way. Geez, look at the nonstop propaganda parade we are exposed to daily; do more, be more, have more… Not very encouraging or loving. And it’s a huge mistake to believe in the do, have, be more gimmicks of the modern world.
Propaganda is just another way to get us caught up in the hamster wheel of life. It’s untrue, unhealthy, unwise, and anxiety-provoking. We must all realize that our truth is without weakness and holds the key to joy, abundance, peace, and purpose.
Don’t Become a Member of the 96% Club
If you don’t know your personality type, how can you possibly pick a class to find YOU? Your personality type is the golden ticket. It helps you find yourself. If you don’t know it, well then, you’re guaranteed membership in the 96% club. UGH!
I know this sounds counterintuitive, but you must know yourself to pick a class, coach, or program to support your needs and desires. If you go in unknowing, unsure, unaware, or unconscious, which most of us do, a failure rate of 96% makes sense. Now you don’t have to know yourself 100%, but I’m telling you, if you begin by exploring your personality type, it will give you the answer so that you won’t become a member of the 96% club.
Studying your personality type starts with internal awareness, understanding your values, passions, purpose, triggers, fears, ego ways, and superpowers. It’s all found within your persona.
Begin to Think Counterintuitively
Most of us spend way too much time on the idea of external self-awareness, a perspective of how other people see us. A premise revealed to me by speaking with hundreds of travelers, and these travelers also revealed the false belief that your personality type is your identity. A bogus premise!
In my former role as a travel public relations professional, I spoke with hundreds upon hundreds of travelers. My job was to know the resort’s guests’ needs and wants. At first, guests would talk about superficial stuff; crappy food, crowded beaches, rude staffers… real or not.
Being curious, I kept asking open-ended questions. Oddly enough, I became a therapist of sorts as guests from across the Caribbean, the United States, and the United Kingdom shared their troubles. “ My husband never notices me, I feel taken advantage of, or my wife needs to explore and interact with everyone constantly. It’s so draining. We never see, eye-to-eye on any activity…”
These are examples of why looking externally for someone to release you from your pain doesn’t work. You have to know yourself first, which means you can’t hold another person accountable for your pain. Gaining clarity on your pain is the way you figure things out. I know this to be true, as this was one of many lessons I learned during my 7-year life tsunami.
As you gain clarity about your various stories, you gain clarity about your choices and what truly matters to you.
Here’s What Worked For Me
Clarity came as I went through my 7-year life tsunami, looking for my truth. I didn’t understand that I needed to passionately know my personality type before I could embark on any spiritual, religious, or self-help programs to find myself.
Here’s what I now know.
Your personality type is the key to unlock life’s most pressing “W” questions. Why am I here? What is my purpose? What’s my truth?. When you add a spiritual understanding, co-creating your reality with Divine Intelligence, your success rate is off the charts!
What I know to be true. If you skip co-creating with Divine Intelligence, you’ll fail every time. It’s like getting in a car without wheels and expecting to drive somewhere. Your nonphysical Self is paramount to your success; however, you choose to define success. My YouTube video goes into great detail about different ways to define success; it’s not always career-oriented.
My Number One Secret as to Why 96% of People Fail
Why I believe 96% of people fail is we take our personality type for granted. We don’t study ourselves or think for ourselves. This situation encourages us to live from our small SELF, weak, without purpose, clarity, confidence, or conviction. Real-world research, speaking with hundreds of travelers, showed me this is a valid concept.
Here’s the bombshell, your personality type has to align with Divine Intelligence to foster co-creation with all that IS. Yes, your personality type is fantastic, but it’s an aspect of the human condition, full of doubts, fears, ego… Of course, you can lessen shadow energy, though it continues to lurk in the corners of our lives. It’s how we learn.
When your Beingness, your nonphysical Self, begins to co-create with Divine Intelligence, which expresses inspired actions through your personality. You begin to realize the magic of Universal energy that designed galaxies, star systems, Gaia, and, yes, human beings. The energy of the Divine aligns us to be in step with our truth. Truth has no weaknesses; just pure abundance and purpose, joy and love, gratitude and empathy, power and humility, passion and compassion-the good stuff of life.
So before you take your next class, tap into your Beingness, ask Divine Intelligence my favorite question, “Please show me.” I guarantee you’ll get an answer. And if it’s a yes, you’ll knock every class you take out of the park. If you desire, I offer one-one- sessions, and I’d love to help begin the journey to the true SELF.
The truth has been there right from the start in each one’s soul.
